Ingredients
  

Chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on or boneless, skinless) – 6 to 8 pieces

Soy sauce (Shoyu) – 1 cup

Brown sugar – ½ cup (can substitute with honey)

Fresh garlic cloves – 3 cloves, minced

Fresh ginger – 1 tablespoon, finely grated

Water or chicken broth – 1 cup

Green onions – 2 stalks, thinly sliced (for garnish, optional)

Sesame seeds – 1 tablespoon (for garnish, optional)

Instructions
 

Mix the Sauce: Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and broth in a bowl.

    Brown the Chicken: Sear chicken thighs in a hot pan until golden on both sides.

      Add Sauce: Pour the sauce over the chicken and bring to a gentle boil.

        Simmer: Cover and cook on low heat for 25–30 minutes, turning the chicken occasionally.

          Thicken Sauce (Optional): Remove chicken, simmer sauce uncovered until thickened.

            Garnish and Serve: Coat chicken with sauce, garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, and serve hot with rice.
